JAY"S BIOGRAPHY

At the early age of 4, Jay Brown initiated a lifelong love affair with the guitar. He began to play professionally when he was 14. A year later, he had already begun to write his own music. It wasn’t long before Jay became a weekly figure on “The Clay Plaza Jamboree”, a radio program in Atlanta, GA. In 1974, he performed as the opening artist for Loretta Lynn and Nat Stuckey. Jay finally arrived in Nashville in 1975 and, like many before him, had high aspirations for success in the music industry and a chance to follow his dream and make it become a reality. In only a few short days, Ed and Patsy Bruce of LSI Publishing who presented him with a writers’ contract recognized his fledging talent. However, with a new family on the way and the famed uncertainties of the music industry, he made both the pivotal and difficult decision to put his dream on hold. Family was and is the priority.
In the ensuing years, Jay became a very prosperous businessman with a slew of successful enterprises to his credit. Despite his success in the business world, the lure of his ultimate goal to write and play his music continued. He wrote as time allowed. In 1995 Jay’s band opened for Blood, Sweat and Tears at the Pensacola Spring Fest. His solo act garnered much notoriety with regular appearances at Trader Jon’s and McGuire’s Outlaws. In the summer of 1999, Jay moved to Nashville to pick up where he left off 25 years ago and continues to pursue his dream on a full-time basis. Currently, Jay enjoys and appreciates writing with such talents as Freddy Weller, Jimbeau Hinson, Gilles Godard, Eddie Burton, Scott Eversoll, Rick Holt and Ronny Miller.
